Denise D. Browning, President Hunter Ventures, LLC
Ms. Browning formed Hunter Ventures to provide financial consulting services, and to invest in and assist with fund raising for start up and small businesses.
Ms. Browning is an active angel investor, who has invested in Telaurus Communications, an early stage telecommunications company that provides satellite communications (voice and data) to the global shipping industry. She contacted over 90 venture capital firms and assisted with capital raising on behalf of Telaurus in 2003. Ms. Browning has provided venture capital consulting services to the State of Alabama and several small businesses.
She is a member of the Baldwin County Alabama Economic Development Alliance Capital Formation Committee. In this role Ms. Browning screens capital requests and reviews business plans from early stage businesses interested in expanding in or relocating to Baldwin County. These reviews are prescreens for capital raising through either a network of 40 individual angel investors, venture capital firms, or high yield debt sources.
Previously, Ms. Browning was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Allstate Investments. At Allstate Investments, she managed a $1.6 billion Non Rated Municipal Bond portfolio, and was responsible for structuring, negotiating, and closing new bond purchases, troubled bond restructuring, presentations to senior management, and staffing. Prior to joining Allstate, Ms. Browning was a Vice President at Bank of America as a result of the acquisition of Continental Bank. At Bank of America she sold whole loans to domestic and foreign banks in Bank Loan Sales. At Continental Bank, Ms. Browning was a Relationship Manager in Commercial Lending - the Real Estate Group. She began her career at Continental Bank in a Computer Systems and Corporate Accounting capacity.
Ms. Browning received her MBA from the University of Chicago in Finance, and has an undergraduate degree from Purdue University in Business Management.
Ms. Browning is a past Board President of the Family Service Center. The Family Service Center is a not for profit that provides family counseling on a sliding fee scale. During her eight year tenure on the Board she was actively involved in strategic planning, fund raising, and recruiting, orientation, and development of new Board Members. She was a leader in developing an incentive compensation plan for the Executive Director that measured expansion of the Mission and rewarded fiscal responsibility. Ms. Browning is an instrument rated private pilot.
